Death From Paralytic Stroke

Elizabeth Luella Givens, wife of Wm. A. Givens, was born Jan. 5, 1863 near Waverly, and departed this life June 15, 1912 aged 49 years 5 months and 10 days. She suffered a stroke of paralysis from which she never regained consciousness, only lasting a few hours. She professed faith in Christ in 1883 at a meeting held by Rev. Mayhew and united with the Methodist church at Appalonia. As long as her health permitted she was a faithful church attendant and remained a member until death.
March 13, 1884 she was united in marriage to Wm. A. Givens. To this union three children were born, Lula May, Frank Albert and Mildred Edith.
Lula May died at the early age of four years.Mrs. Givens is survived by her husband, two children, Frank aged 20 and Mildred aged 10, a widowed mother, Mrs. Lydia Hardman, one sister, Mrs. Emma Dalby and also her husband's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Givens and many other relatives. She was a loving mother, a devoted wife and a kind neighbor and will be greatly missed by her many relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the presence of a large concourse of relatives, neighbors and friends, at the Appalonia church, conducted by Rev. A. N. Simmons, pastor of the First M. E. church of Waverly. Interment was in the East cemetery.
