Laurella Zimmer, age 79, of 2820 38th St., Two Rivers, died early Wednesday morning, May 23, 2001, at St. Mary's Home in Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2001, at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot, with the Rev. Robert Johannes officiating. Entombment will take place in the Knollwood Mausoleum, in the town of Kossuth.
Laurella was born June 20, 1921 in Mishicot, to the late Herman and Ella Dose Burmeister and has been a lifelong area resident. She attended Mishicot High School.
She married Raymond Zimmer June 28, 1941 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot.
Laurella worked as a cabinet builder for the Hamilton Manufacturing Company for 30 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot. She was also a member of the Happy Hoppers for many years. She enjoyed spending time making quilts.
Survivors include her husband Raymond, one daughter, Karen Hanson of Kiel; one son, Merlin Zimmer of Manitowoc; five grandchildren, Thomas (Teresa) Konkle, Scott (Gayle) Konkle, Paul Zimmer, Patricia Zimmer, Margaret (Steve) Lang; and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-n-law, Orrie Burmeister, Two Rivers, Herman (Florence) Burmeister, Two Rivers, and Ione Ballard, Tisch Mills. She is further survived by nieces, nephews and a very special friend, Marian Emond of Mishicot.
Laurella was also preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Burmeister and one brother, Ernst Burmeister.
Relatives and friends may call after 9 a.m. on Friday at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot, until the time of service at 11 a.m. There will be no Thursday evening visitation. A memorial fund has been established in her name. The Lambert Funeral Home of Mishicot is assisting the Zimmer Family with funeral arrangements.
