ELDER A. ZIMMERMAN

Elder A. (Slim) Zimmerman, age 73, of 4707 Carstens Lake Road, Manitowoc, died Tuesday afternoon, May 14, 2002 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday, May 17, 2002, at Knollwood Mausoleum Chapel, 1500 Highway 310, town of Kossuth. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Robert Bleeke with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum.

He was born July 31, 1928 in the town of Breed, Oconto County, son of the late Frank and Anna Hein Zimmerman.

On Sept. 9, 1950 he married the former Elsie Opichka at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The couple had been married for 51 year.

Elder worked for various trucking companies including Fred Radandt & Sons, Dean Brennan Transport and Reliance Construction Company. He was a member of Eagles Aerie #706, Manitowoc, Wisconsin Czechs and Teamsters Local #516. Elder enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Zimmerman, Manitowoc; a son and daughter-in-law, Russ and Alice Zimmerman, Manitowoc; two grandsons, Marc and Sherry Zimmerman, Janesville, Ryan Zimmerman, Manitowoc; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl Zimmerman, Suring; Ervin and Lorraine Zimmerman, Two Rivers; Fern Zimmerman, Shawano; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Clara Heise, Suring; Dorothy (Dixie) Meyer, Manitowoc and Freida and Earl Alsen, Washington. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by brothers, Gust, Leonard, Norbert and an infant brother, sisters, Ruth, Mickey and Jeanette and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, from 5 to 8 pm Thursday and Friday morning at Knollwood Mausoleum Chapel from 10 am until the time of service at 11 am.
