"Hello, could you add a note to this memorial:

The name of the ship on the headstone is
misspelled. On the night of October 11-12,
1942, the light cruiser U.S.S. Boise (CL-47)
engaged ships of the Imperial Japanese Navy
during the Battle of Cape Esperance, to the
west of Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands.
One shell from a Japanese cruiser struck
the 6-inch shell magazines below the front
turrets, causing an explosion and ensuing
fire which claimed the life of Seaman Gilbert
and 108 of his fellow shipmates."
