Mary Katherine Herman, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 5, 2009 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born July 3, 1921 in Braggs, OK, the daughter of Joe and Voisie (Fryar) Burt. Mary married Donald L. Herman on September 2, 1965 in Boswell, OK. Mary lived in the Hugo area since 1979, moving to Oklahoma City, OK to be near family after her husband passed away. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. Mary enjoyed quilting and embroidery. When she had a notion she would cook up a storm, Mary never left a visitor unfed. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Herman in 1996. Mary is survived by three brothers: Joe Burt of Upland, CA, Russell Burt and Roy Burt both of Oklahoma City, OK; one sister: Callie Monroe of Hazel Park, Michigan; many nieces and nephews. A graveside celebration of Mary’s life will be held Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, OK.
