Mrs. Baucom, 73, of Charlotte, NC, died November 17, 2006 at her residence.
Gerri, as she was affectionately known, was born April 1, 1933 in Wilson County, North Carolina a daughter of the late James Ransom Smith and Ida Mae Sullivan Smith. She worked with Color Craft which later became Qualex Inc. and retired after 32 years of service. Mrs. Baucom was a member of Sunset Road Baptist Church.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Baucom will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte Chapel with The Reverend Steve Bass, senior minister of Sunset Road Baptist, officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The Baucom family will greet friends Monday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at McEwen Charlotte Chapel.
Mrs. Baucom is survived by her three children: Robin Nyoka Ofsonka and her husband, Chris of Gastonia, NC; Raven Colt Baucom of Stallings, NC and Melody Hope Bowman and husband, Mickey of Scottsdale, AZ; two grandchildren: Chasity Eve Baucom and Daniel Lester Baucom, II both of Stallings, NC; two step-grandchildren: Meagan Renee Bowman of Cadiz, KY and Jason Daniel Bowman of Owensboro, KY and step-great-granddaughter, Sophie Bowman, sister, Claire Hamilton of Roanoke Rapids, NC; brother, Coy Smith of Mebane, NC and Earline Copley of Snow Cap, NC. Mrs. Baucom was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Lester Baucom, Jr. in 1998.
Memorials may be made in remembrance of Mrs. Geraldine Baucom to Presbyterian Hospice and Pallative Care, 200 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC 28207.
