Zelma (Robbins) Carroll McCarty

Zelma (Robbins) Carroll McCarty, 91, of the Pleasant Ridge Community, LaFollette passed away on May 12. She was a long-time member of the Alder Springs Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, comforter and friend to all who knew her. Zelma never met a stranger. She always had a full home-cooked meal on the stove for her family, friends and frequent visitors who all loved her dearly. Zelma loved spending time with her family and friends, and loved working in her vegetable and flower garden, canning and quilting.
Zelma was preceded in death by parents, James and Nora (Shelby) Robbins; first husband J.C. Carroll who died while serving his country in World War II and second husband Chester (Chet) McCarty; sister, Walsie Bruce of LaFollette; brothers Otis, Fate and Ellis Robbins, all of LaFollette.
Zelma is survived by daughter, Pat Carroll of Alpharetta, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Barbara Carroll of LaFollette; step-daughter, Rosemary Davidson of Alpharetta, GA; step-sons, Siler McCarty and wife, Emma of LaFollette; and Larry McCarty and wife, Margaret of Roswell, GA; sisters, Magdalene Goins, Lola Sweat and husband, Charles, and sister-in-law, Juanita Robbins all of LaFollette; grandchildren, Brad Carroll and wife, Tessa and Adam Carroll of LaFollette, several step-grandchildren, great-grandson, Clayton Carroll of LaFollette, several step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other friends and relatives to mourn her passing.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on May 14 with funeral services to follow at Walter's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. O.D. Hill officiating. Interment will be May 15 at 10 a.m. at Goins Cemetery in LaFollette. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Goins Cemetery, c/o Margie Chapman, 455 Alder Springs Road, LaFollette TN 37766. Walters Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
