Marie Violet Farber, a forty-eight year Torrance resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday surrounded by her loving family at the age of ninety-five.

She was an active member of the Sovereign Grace Bible Church for over thirty years. She was also a dedicated and proud member of the American Society of Women Accountants.

She was an avid and competitive bridge and Scrabble player and took great delight in her lovely garden. She was a beautiful, selfless and kind woman whose independent spirit only deepened her loved ones' affection for her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her adoring family and in the beauty of every rose in her garden.

Preceded in death by her husband, Philip Farber, survivors include her daughter, Susan von Detten; grandchildren, Dolly, Timothy, Britta, Erik and Andrea; and great-grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel, Allison, Jake and Natalie.

A viewing will be held at White and Day Colonial Chapel. A service will be held at Sovereign Grace Bible Church. Burial will follow at Loma Vista Cemetery in Fullerton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
