Born in Tidioute, his parents were Dewalt and Goldie (Cotterman) Wiles and siblings: Margaret, Freeda, Harry, Helen, Edith, and Donald. Chuck served with the US Army Air Force during WW2 with rank of staff sargeant, and saw action in the Pacific theater. In 1952, he was employed by Hammermill Paper Company. His wife, Katherine Peterson Wiles preceded him in death in 1973. He had lived most of his life in the Erie area and died at the Hamot Medical Center, Erie.
