Leroy E. Abrahamson

Leroy E. Abrahamson, 89, of Spearfish, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, as the result of a car accident.
Leroy E. Abrahamson was born Aug. 20, 1913, in Lead, the son of Peter G. and Clara (Seath) Abrahamson. He lived in Lead for a short time before moving withhis family to Kennebec, S.D., where he attended school and graduated from Kennebec High School in 1923.
He was a member of the Civil Conservation Corps in the Southern Black Hills. He came to Deadwood in 1936 and worked for Black Hills Power and Light at the Plulma Power Plant and was transfered to the Rapid City Power Plant in 1941, returning to Deadwood in 1948 where he was in charge of the Pluma Plant and Kirk Power Plants until retiring in 1978. He married Georgia Wood on May 12, 1939, at Sturgis. They moved to Spearfish following his retirement.
He enjoyed the bee business as his hobby expanded into a small business known as Abe's Apicrics, being known as the bee man.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia, Spearfish; two sons, Gary and his wife Linda of San Antonio, Texas, Don and his wife Marlie of Spearfish; four grandcildren, Amy Walker of Rapid City, Chad Abrahamson of Spearfish, Peter Abrahamson of San Antonio and Kristen Murry of Florida; one great-granddaughter, Coral, of Spearfish; a brother, Seth Abrahamson of Belle Fourche; and a sister, Thelma Swenson of Presho.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24 at the United Methodist Church in Spearfish with Rev. Kip Roozen officiating.
Carlsen and Aldinger Funeral Home of Spearfish has been entrusted with the arrangements.
