Laura's son, The Honorable Charles Thornton Bass, served as a member of The Texas House of Representatives of the 35th, 36th, and 37th Legislature (from 1917 to 1921).

Laura's nephew, her sister Eudora's son, William Pettus Hobby, became the Governor of Texas from 1917 to 1921.
