Obituary
Donna May (Robbins) Adams, 79, of Dallas, Texas, passed away Feb. 19, 2010.
She was born March 13, 1930, in Woodland, to Edgar A. and Cora E. (Wilson) Robbins and graduated with the Woodland High School Class of 1947.
While growing up in Cougar, Wash., Donna would spend her summers working at her family's fishing camp on Lake Merrill where she was always up for a new challenge. In fact, pursuing new challenges such as learning to water and snow ski in her 40's, starting a successful business in her 50's, and traveling extensively throughout the U.S. and around the world was a lifelong passion. Donna was always the last one to go to bed at night and the first one to rise in the morning, not wanting to miss out on anything!
Donna was respected for her ability to adapt to new situations. With three young children from a prior marriage and a full-time job, she still managed to meet the love of her life. Fifty-one years later, Donna and Bob had successfully raised five children while living in Washington, Oregon, California, and finally Texas. She enjoyed being a gracious, "self taught" hostess at their holiday and corporate parties. But Donna was more likely to brag about celebrating her wedding anniversaries sitting at a baseball game, eating hotdogs, and cheering for her children's teams. When traveling, she was just as comfortable with a sleeping bag and tent as she was on a first class tour of Europe. In recent years, a battle with breast cancer and an ongoing battle with Parkinson's Disease could not keep her from her annual trips to check on her family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Robert L. Zybach, Carmen Dona VanDemarr and her husband, Turtle, James J. Zybach, Jeffery L. Adams and his wife, Kelly, and David J. Adams and his wife, Stacey; nine grandchildren Aaron, Alistar, Greta, Isaac, Jasmine, Jessica, Kit, Burke and Brody; and six great-grandchildren.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Adams; a sister, Maxine A. Kelland formerly of Woodland; and a brother, Richard E. Robbins formerly of Cougar.
A celebration of Donna's and Bob's lives will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Cougar Bar & Grill in Cougar, Wash.
In lieu of cards and flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation.
