SIDNEY - E. A. Ailes, 87, of 201 South Third Street, Anna, died at his home at 2:30a.m. Monday. He had been in failing health for about three years.
Born Aug, 1, 1882 in Shelby County, he was a son of Hiram P. and Jenny R. Beech Ailes.
He was first married to Dora J. Heintz, who is deceased. His second marriage was to Ruth McVey, who survives. Other survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Thaleon (Esther) Blake, Mrs. Franklin (Pearl) Fridley, and Mrs. Gerald (Hazel) Shoemaker, all of Sidney. Mrs. Hanson (Maveen) Epperson of Anna: and three sons, Harry A., Willis E., and Bruce M., All of Anna: 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister are deceased.
Mr. Ailes was a former rural mail carrier and postmaster of Anna. He also served as a Township clerk and clerk of the school board at Anna. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Anna, and had served as i5ts secretary and treasurer for 40 years. He was a member of the Ohio and National Letter Carriers Association.
Rev. Lawrence Cordrey will conduct the services at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Cromes and Sons Funeral Home with burial in Pearl Cemetery, Swanders.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday afternoon and Evening and Thursday until time of services.
Members of the Masonic Lodge will hold memorial services at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Funeral home with members of the family present.
