Grand-son of James Marion Douthit ans Mallissa Ann Parker Douthit.Great-grand-son of Johnathan Douthit and Rebecca Childers Douthit.∼Riley was born in Anderson Co, TX to Spencer Marion and Dorothy Ann Hester Douthit. He shares a stone with his wife, Sarah Adaline Bars Douthit, who he married 30 November 1892. Their children, Minnie Belle Douthit Barthel, Clarence Ephner Douthit, and Virgil Link Douthit, are all buried in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

RILEY DOUTHIT FUNERAL SUNDAY
Riley M. Douthit, 74, died Saturday at 2:25 a.m. at his home, Route 1, Elkhart. Mr. Douthit, a retired farmer, was born April 26, 1875.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Hassell and Forster Chapel with the Reverend Ruford Miller of Navasota officiating,. Interment will be in the Elkhart Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Earl Tomkins, Frank Collier, Ton Monk, Oral Sharon, Roy Herrington and Pace McDonald.
Mr. Douthit is survived by two sons, V. L. Douthit of Palestine and Clarence Douthit of Elkhart; one daughter, Mrs. G. H. Barthel of Elkhart; one half-brother, Ed Douthit of Southview; one sister, Mrs. Ed Kohler of Palestine; one half-sister, Mrs. Lena Bars of Palestine; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
