Henry A. "Boney" Wolfley (ca. 1866-1908) purchased a house lot on Court Street in Gatesville in 1904 and had the house built soon thereafter. A native of Gatesville, Wolfley operated a general store at Williams Mill (now known as Merchants Mill Pond) during the late 1890's, although his reason for moving to Gatesville is unknown. He married Emma Mae Eure (1878-1960) in 1902 and died soon after the house's completion. In 1913 Emma married Lilton Lee Harrell.
Wolfley left a will, leaving real estate valued at $2000.00 to his wife, Ella May Wolfley, and three nephews.
