Vern H. Fox, 81, of 720 Woodview Avenue, Apt. 2, Sheboygan Falls, died Monday afternoon at Sunny Ridge in Sheboygan where he had been a patient three weeks.

Mr. Fox, a longtime employee of The Sheboygan Press, was born May 28, 1905, in Sault St. Marie, MI, son of Homer and Etta (Porteous) Fox.

He graduated from Sault St. Marie High School, and later took courses in advertising in Michigan.

He came to Plymouth in 1927, where he was employed at the Plymouth Review for four years. He worked in advertising campaigning prior to 35 years as an advertising salesman at The Press. He was a member of the Silver Star Service Club at The Press, and retired in 1973.

Mr. Fox was married to Alma Beisser in Plymouth in 1930.

He married Germaine Demge in Sheboygan in 1943.

On October 13, 1982, he married Mrs. Mary Vanderhoof Stricker in Waukegan, IL. The couple lived in Plymouth until November 1986, when they moved to Sheboygan Falls.

Mr. Fox was instrumental in founding the Sheboygan Press Local 179 of the Newspaper Guild which he served as president for several terms, and was also president of Midwest Regional Council of the American Newspaper Guild, and the Conference of Guild Councils.

He had also served as president of the Sheboygan Health Board, and during a brief residency at Sunny Ridge had served as president of Resident's Council there in 1978.

Mr. Fox was affiliated with St. Luke Methodist Church in Sheboygan.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Vern Jr. of Guilford, CT and Paul of Sheboygan; three daughters, Patricia Germaine Fox of Chicago, IL, Mrs. David (Peggy) Duehring of Brown Deer, WI, and Mrs. James (Pamela) Walker of Lincoln, NE; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Della Mae St. Louis of Utica, MI.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

The funeral was held on Friday, May 29, 1987 at Wittkopp Funeral Home in Plymouth. The Rev. Kenneth Knoespel, visiting pastor at St. Luke Methodist Church, officiated. Following cremation, internment took place at Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.
