Ray was born on August 1, 1904, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of the late Frank and Pauline (Vogl) Schwerzler. He attended Rangeline School in Two Rivers, WI.
On December 30, 1934, he married the former Florian Greenwood who was born and raised in Two Rivers. Ray was one of the first employees of the Curt G. Joa Company and moved with the company from Manitowoc to Sheboygan Falls in 1936. His career at the Curt G. Joa Co. spanned 44 years and involved worldwide travel including Europe, Africa, South America and the Far East.
Ray was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls. He was an avid golfer and scored a hole in one at Town and Country when he was 80. Ray also enjoyed gardening.
Ray is survived by his wife, Florian, of Smyrna, GA; one daughter, Betty (Neal) Davis of Crystal Lake, IL; one son, Don (Sandra) Schwerzler of Smyrna, GA; five grandchildren, Renee (Paul) Herrmann, Allison (John) Twite, Johanna Schwerzler, Derek Schwerzler and Kalan Schwerzler; two great-grandsons, Andrew and Hunter Twite; and one brother, Earl Schwerzler of Grants Pass OR. Ray was preceded in death by one infant grandson, Neal Davis Jr.
Graveside funeral services were held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Two Rivers on Tuesday, October 22, 2002 with the Rev. Bill O'Brien officiating.
