Elmer was a son of Samuel Jefferson & Margaret (Ellison) Akers. He married Sarah E. Thompson on Aug 31, 1924 in Shady Springs, WV.

Funeral services for Elmer B. Akers, 62, Beaver, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Beaver Baptist Church with the Rev. Everett W. Powers officiating. Burial will be made in the Blue Jay Cemetery.
Akers died at his residence at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. A veteran of World War I, he was a mail carrier, and also was engaged in the poultry business. Akers was born at Ellison on July 1, 1895.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sarah Thompson Akers of Beaver; one brother, Charlie Akers of Beaver; one sister, Mrs. Lula McNeil of Beaver; and one foster daughter, Mrs. Ida Belle Lilly of Nimitz.
The body will be moved to the residence at 5 p.m. today from the Rose & Quesenberry Funeral Home, and to the church an hour before services. Pallbearers will include: Robert Scott, Jack Rakes, Charlie Anderson, Tracy Shannon, Robert Epperly, Earl Colbaugh, Milt Dove, Henry Lilly, Lundy Green, and Will Lucas.
