Matthew Troy "Bo" Metcalf was born November 11, 1969 in Gilmer, TX, the son of Troy Lee Metcalf and Francis Ellen Chapman Metcalf. He passed away Friday, March 29, 2013 in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta, at the age of 43.
A resident of Love County most of his life, Bo graduated from Marietta High School in 1988. Participating in sports was his life while in school. He was a very important player on the 1987 Marietta High School football team that won the State Championship, and was also on the basketball and track teams. He had been employed as an electrician. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and camping. Bo attended Christ Tabernacle.
Preceding him in death were grandparents, Nova and Joe Chapman, Nine and Callie Metcalf and Pete Flatt; three uncles, Don Evans, Mike Chapman and Thurman Gilbert; aunt, Illeen Chapman; and three cousins, Steven Taylor, Jeff Stofel and Stacy Evans.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Francis and Carroll Flatt of Leon; father, Troy Metcalf of Enon, TX; daughter, Coda Brae Metcalf of Denton, TX; grandmother, Ann Flatt of Marietta; two brothers, Spike Metcalf and fianceé, Amy Eden of Thackerville, OK and Joseph and Brooke Chapman of Marietta; sister and brother-in-law, Sheri and Ronald Rhoades of Burneyville, OK; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Serving as casket bearers will be Rickie Willis, Jeff Willis, Danny Flatt, Mack Stofel, Wes Stofel and Don Reed. Honorary bearers are Steve Willis, Lavon Hicks, Robert Paul Hughes, Bill Hartman and members of the 1987 Marietta High School State Championship Football Team.
