Alvin Tucker McBride, 83, passed away May 15, 2004, at Riverside Regional Medical Center.

Born Sept. 23, 1920, in Newport News, Va., he was the son of the late Harry and Lillian McBride. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. After his graduation from Newport News High School, he moved to Jersey City, N.J., where he resided for 45 years. He retired from New Jersey Sheet Metal Local #25 after 30 years of service. Upon his retirement, he embarked on a career as a certified nursing assistant in Mount Holly, N.J.

He was a boy scout leader advisor and Commissioner of Troop 77, Jersey City, N.J., and a Master Mason of Secaucus-Hudson Lodge #72, Secaucus, N.J.

Mr. McBride leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 63 years, Lucy Elizabeth Ellis McBride. He is also survived by a brother, Jack McBride of Ruston, Wash.; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Charles P. McBride; sister, Carrie Lockhart; and a brother, Harry Cooper McBride.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, at Peninsula Funeral Home. Graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 19, at Peninsula Memorial Park by the Rev. Donald Ambrose.
