ABSTRACT Died 3/7/1919 by deliberate drowning. He came here 5 years ago and was a retired farmer from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was despondent over failing health. He was born in Richmond NY in 1850. He lived at 1043 Elm. Left a note stating: "I wish my friends to know that I am trusting that God has forgiven my sins. I have prayed in my poor humble way for forgiveness." Ferguson, 69, was a bachelor.
Added in March 2017 by Pat Iverson ... I believe Winfield Scott Ferguson to be the son of Sarah Wager and her husband Rev. William Ferguson. The family was living at RICHLAND, New York at the time of Winfield's birth. When he left a suicide note, the handwriting transcriber may have gotten the information wrong.
