2nd Lieutenant Thomas Frederick Henry Wake, 1st Battalion the North Staffordshire Regiment. He was the son of Thomas Wake (auditor Madras Railway) and Rosa Wake, of Southcote, Hindhead, Surrey. Baptised on 30 Sep 1898 in St George's Cathedral, Madras, India. Educated at Haileybury College, Hertfordshire (Allenby/Highfield, 1912-15). Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Commissioned into the North Staffordshire Regiment as a 2nd Lieutenant on 1 May 1917. He joined the 1st Battalion in France who fought in the Battle of Messines in Jun 1917 and the third Battle of Ypres in Oct 1917. When the 1st Battalion moved to the Somme, he remained in Flanders and was attached to the 8th Battalion the North Staffordshire Regiment. He was wounded in a counter attack at Messines. He died from his wounds in a Casualty Clearing Station at Lijssenthoek on 10 Apr 1918. He was buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Poperinge, Arrondissement Ieper, West Flanders, Belgium.
