Mr. Euehl Marshall (Gus) Holmes was born in Blount County to Cecil S. and Vicie E. (Hall) Holmes. He served in WWII in Battery "A" 398th 3rd Army, 14th Armored Division in Normandy and went on to help liberate Dachau prison. He retired from B.F. Goodrich. He was a member of Zamora Shrine, Cedar Bend Mason Lodge, and member of VFW Post 8600. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie (McKinnon) Holmes; son, Kenneth Marshall Holmes; parents; brother, Arvel Holmes. He is survived by his daughter, Jami Williamson; grandchildren; brother, Robert L. Holmes; sister, Glenda Arthur.
