Mary Ann Urbanowicz

MOUNT CARMEL — Mary Ann Urbanowicz, 56, of 138 S. Locust St., passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at her residence when she suddenly became ill and was taken home to the Lord to be reunited with her late husband and loved ones.
Born in Shamokin, Aug. 28, 1956, she was a daughter of the late Thomas I. and Mary Ann (Kurtz) Gallagher Sr.
She was raised in the Shamokin area and resided in the Mount Carmel area for the last 35 years.
On Oct. 31, 1981, in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Mount Carmel, she married the late David S. Urbanowicz Sr., who preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 2009.
Mary Ann was a housewife.
Mary Ann enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, and could be seen chatting with her neighbors. Everyone who knew her loved her funny sense of humor.
She attended Shamokin Area High School and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mount Carmel, and Knights of Columbus, Shamokin.
Survivors include four children, Eric J. Schlegel, of Mount Carmel, Hope F. Schlegel, of Hazleton, Anna K. Urbanowicz, of Pittsburgh, and David S. Urbanowicz, of Mount Carmel; a granddaughter, Rebecca N. Snyder; three grandsons, Dustin G. Rentschler, Christian D. Urbanowicz and Ethan J. Urbanowicz; two brothers, Thomas I. Gallagher and his wife, Donna, of Hanover, Md., and John A. Gallagher, of Kulpmont; three sisters, Anna M. (Gallagher) Kozee, of Shamokin, Rose M. (Gallagher) Poust, of Shamokin, and Patricia A. (Gallagher) Miller and her husband, James, of Mount Carmel, and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and four great-great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jean M. Gallagher, in December 1981, and two brothers, Daniel J. Gallagher in February 2000 and James J. Gallagher in December 2012.

URBANOWICZ — Mary Ann Urbanowicz, 56, of 138 S. Locust St., Mount Carmel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mount Carmel, C.J. Lucas IV, supervisor, with the Rev. Rose Marquardt officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Mount Carmel Township.
