Thomas J. Ahearn, Jr., age 76 years, of Aston Twp., died on Monday, April 1, 2013, at Riddle Memorial Hospital.
Born in Chester, Pa. he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Mary Scheivert Ahearn.
A graduate of the former St. James High School in Chester, he had been employed by the US Postal System, first at the former post office in Glen Riddle, PA and later in Media, PA for 37 years, until his retirement in 1992.
Tom was a member of St. Francis De Sales Church, in Aston, the Knights of Columbus Council # 3876, and a life member of the Lenni Heights Fire Co., where he served as past Chief, President, and Board Member.
Tom was also a life member of the Delaware Valley Fire Chiefs Assn., a social member of the VFW, a member of the Lenni A.C. and the No Dear Hunt Club, Potter County, PA. Tom was also involved with Christmas trees and flower sales with his brother Joe. He was a long-time supporter of the Rockdale Memorial Day Parade, where he provided free ice cream to all the children.
He was the husband of the late Dawn Murray Ahearn and the grandfather of the late Gary Young, Jr. Survivors: His wife Barbara Baldwin Ahearn; 1 daughter Karen (Gary) Young and 1 son Alan Baldwin. 1 brother Joseph (Rita) Ahearn and Nephew Joseph (Susan) Ahearn, Jr., also survived by 4 grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass: Monday, 11:00 AM, from the Church of St. Francis De Sales, New Road, Aston, PA. Calling hours: Friends may call on Sunday evening, after 6:00 PM and Monday, after 9:30 AM, from the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA.
Interment: in the adjoining church cemetery.
