Nancy McLain, daughter of Jesse McLain and the former Nancy Peyton, was born in Davidson County, Tennessee in 1811.

On October 12th 1831, Nancy married Dr. William Newton Stewart, a young physician and surgeon. They lived the first years of their marriage in Blount County and then moved to his mother's place in Molino, Lincoln County, after her death in 1844.

Nancy McLain Stewart departed this life on the 28th day of September 1869. She was laid to rest near her mother-in-law in the cemetery near Prosperity A.R.P. Church in Yukon, Tennessee.
