Billy Lee Young Sr., 92, of Woodway, died Wednesday morning, April 3, 2013. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, April 6, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, McGregor, with the Rev. John Dirk officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Cole Funeral Home. Interment will be at 2 p.m., Monday, April 8, in Forest Park West Cemetery, Shreveport, La.

Billy Lee was born in Lost Creek, West Virginia, to the late Charles Webb and Flora Bell (Lee) Young. He obtained his education in Waterloo, Iowa. On March 8, 1945, he married Loyce Lee Johnson in South Carolina. During World War II, he served his country in the United States Army from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1946. Billy attended a Houston Beauty School, and after becoming a beautician, he owned and operated his hair salon in Madisonville, Texas, for many years. After retiring in 1980, he worked at a Shreveport nursing home as a maintenance supervisor. Throughout his life, he enjoyed carpentry, cooking deserts, and gardening.

Preceding him in death were brothers, Gene Young, Ray Mullinex, Rhul Mullinex, and Wallace Mullinex; and sisters, Katherine Perry and Kaledine Kopp.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Loyce Young; sons, Billy Young and wife, Debbie, of Woodway, and Scott Young, of Shreveport, La.; grandchildren, Kristen Landon, Justin Young, and Scott Lee Young Jr.; great-grandchildren, Barrett Landon and Dylan Landon; many other relatives and friends.
