Mrs. John S. Smith died at the family home, 355 McLean Street, last night at 9:55 following a long illness. Her husband, a well-known supervisor of bridges and track for Lehigh Valley Railroad, died nine days ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary February 11, 1957.
Mrs. Smith was born in Wilkes-Barre, the former Anna Young, daughter of the late John and Sophia Sauer Young. She was a member of St. Boniface Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, and the Ladies Social Club.
She is survived by the following sons, John. Jr., Eugene, both of Wilkes-Barre; Francis, at home; Joseph of Elizabeth, N. J.; a sister, Miss Bertha Young, and a brother, Joseph Young, both of Wilkes-Barre.
Funeral will be held from the McLaughlin Funeral Home, 142 South Washington Street, Monday morning at 9:30, with a Requiem Mass at 10 in St. Boniface Church. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call tonight 7 to 10 and Sunday, 3 to 5 and 7 to 10 p. m.
Altar and Rosary Society will recite the rosary Sunday at 8 p. m.
