Dunedin - James A. Johnson of 63 Lake Haven died Saturday at his home. He was 90. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland and moved here 24 years ago from Rahway, N. J. Before he retired Mr. Johnson was a test engineer and a specialist in the casting of copper for the United States Metals Refining Co. in Carteret, N. J., a subsidiary of AMAX.
He was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church in Rahway, a past master of Theodore Roosevelt Lodge 219, F&AM of Carteret, and past patron of Carteret Chapter 239, OES. He also was a member of VFW Post 2550, Dunedin, and served as chaplain for the Veterans of World War I Barracks 1980 and the Suncoast High Twelve Club, both of Dunedin. He was an Army veteran of World War I.
Mr. Johnson also was a member of the AARP and was a past member of the Society of Metals. He was appointed conferee to the world's first metallurgical congress in 1951.
He is survived by two sons, Thomas R. of Clearwater and James A. Jr. of Dunedin: and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Moss Dunedin Chapel.
