Frederick Peter "Fred" Minter was born on April 30, 1923 in Highland, Wisconsin, the son of Ignatius Benard "I B" Minter (1893–1963) and Rose Josephine (Schneider) Minter (1890–1985).

He was married on February 10, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois to Estella Anne "Estelle" Schneider (1920-2011), the daughter of Peter Franz Adelbert Schneider (1881–1972) and Gertrude M (Kiersten) Schneider (1890–1982).

The couple moved to San Bernardino County, California in 1985 and settled in Chino where Fred was one of a number of seniors who helped establish the Chino Senior Center. He was also president of the Chino Senior Club, served on the Chino Citizen's Patrol for 13 years and attended Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church. And, he was active in the Knights of Columbus and Kiwanis.

In the early 2000s, he and his wife moved to Victorville and attended Holy Innocents Church there. Fred was 81 years old and married when he passed away at home on March 25, 2005.

Survivors included his widow in Victorville, a son in Long Beach, California, another son in Lynnwood, Washington and a third son in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, a daughter in Roselle, Illinois, a sister in Madison, Wisconsin, twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A Rosary was held at Desert View Funeral Home, and burial was in Desert View Memorial Park, Victorville.
