William Shepherd Jr was the son of William & Jamimah Johnson Shepherd. He married Elizabeth Yerby, daughter of Captain William & Frances Margaret McTyre Yerby. Their children were Michael Legrand Sr, John, William III, Isaac, Mary Louise, Hughley, Frances S, Nancy, Jemiriah, Sarah, Robert, Richmond Mack, Elizabeth, Thomas and Jacob Solon Shepherd. At the time of his death he would have been considered a wealthy man, owning land, a mill, a working plantation and money in the bank.
