Mama was born Aug. 20, 1912 in Gainsville, Mo. to Claude and Ruby Phillips (Weaver). She was the oldest of their six children.

Earline attended school in Oakland, Ark. and Gainsville, Mo. In 1954 Earline moved to Tieton with her family. There she met Joe Bill Akins at the Tieton Cafe.

Earline and Joe were married Oct. 1, 1954, in Yakima, and began their family life in the Tieton area.

In 1956 they moved to Buena and Earline gave birth to their first of two daughters, Patricia Ann Akins. Earline and Joe always called the Lower Valley home after that. In 1970 Earline gave birth to their second daughter, Kershella Mae Akins.
In 1972 Earline and Joe purchased the Sunnyside Livestock Yards. They lived in Sunnyside until 1975, then selling out and moving back to Zillah until 2000.
In the summer of 2000, Earline and Joe decided to become "snow birds". They sold their home and purchased an RV. They enjoyed travels to Montana during the summers and Arizona during the winters but yet always returning home to Zillah.
Earline worked for several local fruit warehouses throughout her years sorting and boxing various fruits. She and Joe later became foster parents, opening and sharing their home and hearts with many children over the years. In 2009 Earline was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Earline enjoyed camping, fishing, cards, bingo, bowling, dice, dominoes and playing the slot machines at any casino you would drive her to. Most of all Earline loved her friends and family.
