Gary E. Otterness met his untimely death Saturday, September 5, 2010. He was born February 2, 1970 in Centralia, WA to Albert and Gloria Otterness. He lived most of his life in Onalaska, though he attended high school in Napavine. He graduated in 1989. He served in the Army straight out of high school and during Desert Storm.
In 1990 he married Amie Kruegel. They were married until 2005. They moved to Salem in 1991 where Gary attended Chemeketa Community College for automotive technology. They moved back to Onalaska in 1993. He worked at several local repair shops before opening A & G Automotive in Onalaska which he operated from 1995 until the time of his death.
He enjoyed basketball, running, riding his motorcycle, church activities, health and fitness and spending time with his children. He was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He served the community as a volunteer firefighter with the Onalaska Fire Department.
He is survived by his three daughters; Amanda, Kirsten and Carrie Otterness; his siblings, Ken Crabtree of Vancouver, WA, Darwin Crabtree of Salem, OR, Darla Styger of Napavine, WA, Carla Otterness of Ethel, WA, Albert Otterness of Chehalis, WA and Nancy Cook of Chehalis, WA; his father Albert Otterness of Ethel, WA and his mother Gloria Otterness of Ethel, WA.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Morton Seventh Day Adventist Church.
