Grover Leslie "Les" Payne, son of Floyd and Katy Davis Payne was born June 7,1955, in Lebanon, Missouri; and departed this life December 7,2008 also in Lebanon, Missouri.
He had made his profession of faith with our Lord and enjoyed attending Bible Study.
On February 23,2001, he was united in marriage with Sondra Massey, and at the time of his death they had enjoyed seven wonderful years together. He enjoyed fishing,watching wrestling and football on TV.
Les attended Buffalo High School and graduated in 1973, he then began his career with Detroit Tool where he remained for over thirty three years until his retirement due to ill health.
He is survived by his wife Sondra of the home, Mother Katy, one son Travis Payne both of Lebanon, two daughters Stacy Payne of Rocky Mount, Missouri and Janet Payne of Lebanon, Missouri, five brothers, Jim and his wife Arna Jean, John and wife Linda and Paul Ray Payne all of Lebanon, Missouri,
Billy and his wife Terry of Louisburg, Missouri; and Danny and his wife Julie of Meta, Missouri, three sisters Betty Thompson and Paul of Phillipsburg, Missouri, Katherine Purvis and Danny of Junction City, Ohio, and Margie Payne of Lebanon, one granddaughter Breeanna Payne of Lebanon, and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Payne, a brother, Wayne Payne and a sister, Dorothy Giboney.
Les was a loving husband and father, cherished son, treasured brother, fun loving grandfather and loyal friend.
He had the ability to make people smile even on their darkest day.
His kind spirit and gentle ways will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
