Elsie Tate Harrah, 85, of Pine Hill died Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Summers Co. Appalachian Regional Hospital, following a short illness.

Born August 25, 1927 in Pemberton she was a daughter of the late Andrew Tate and Lydia Ellen Guess Tate.

She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church and enjoyed attending services as long as her health permitted. Elsie obtained her GED degree in 1996 at the age of 68 and continued her education by mentoring students pursuing their GED degree twice a week. She enjoyed collecting dolls, quilting and spending time with her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry H. Harrah July 10, 1995; five brothers and one sister.

Those left to cherish her memory include four sons, Johnny and Ronnie Harrah of Hilldale, Leonard Harrah of Pipestem and Robert Harrah and wife Linda of Lerona; six daughters, Lena Brookman and Bonnie Harrah of Hilldale, Sherry Phillips and husband Jimmy Ray of Lerona, Carolyn Allen of Beckley, and Brenda Harrah of Hilldale and Wanda Sea and husband Edward of Hinton; twenty nine grandchildren; fifty six great grandchildren; eleven great great grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Ward and Margaret Surbaugh both of Hinton.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Joe Spencer officiating.

Burial will follow in the Claypool Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral parlors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
