Robert (Bob) M. McHenry Sr, 87 of Broken Bow, OK passed away on April 7, 2013 at the Paris Regional Medical Center in Paris, TX. He was born October 29, 1925 in Broken Bow, OK the son of John and Mary McHenry.
He was the baby of a family of five sisters and two brothers. He spent his childhood in Broken Bow. Bob was drafted during his junior year of Broken Bow High School and served as a navel mechanic of the USS Lexington aircraft carrier. Upon returning home, he completed high school and was a standout tackle on the Eastern A & M college football team.
Bob married Lella Mize on November 18, 1948 in Broken Bow, OK and shared fifty one wonderful years together. He owned and operated McHenry Welding for approximately 40 years. His remarkable welding skills led way to him designing and creating the metal star that shines above the city of Broken Bow each Christmas season.
He loved his family and looked forward to birthdays, holidays and any opportunity to be with his grandchildren. He enjoyed making peanut brittle for the holidays and canning with his daughter-in-law, Ann. Bob was baptized in the cold waters of Mt. Fork River and was a longtime member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Broken Bow. He was a member of the Broken Bow Masonic Lodge #441 and was a Past Master of the lodge. He enjoyed fishing, tree grafting and playing dominos with his church family.

Bob is survived by one son, Bob McHenry Jr and wife, Ann of Broken Bow; three grandchildren, Jason McHenry and wife Kandi of Broken Bow, Lindsay Ensley and husband, Wes of Wright City, Brittany Hayes and husband Ian of Tahlequah; four great-grandchildren, Brayson, Kennedi, Weston and Cooper; several nieces, nephews and a host of church family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary McHenry; wife, Lella (Mize) McHenry; two brothers, Jack and George McHenry; five sisters, Margaret McFarland, Virginia Sherrill, Wanda Teague, Bessie Temple and Mable Beeson.
Funeral services will be 2pm, Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Oak Grove Community, Bow, OK. Brother Greg Curtis will officiate. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Grove Community, Broken Bow, OK.

The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 6 PM – 8 PM Wednesday evening.
