Mrs. Mollie Askins Pitts, 85, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. R. L. Crawford, Sunday morning, December 21, 1952, after a lingering illness. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Nannie Hairston Askins, and was born and spent her entire life in Lincoln County. Since girlhood, she had been a devout member of the Concord Missionary Baptist Church and lived her life according to its teachings. Her husband, Mr. Robert Franklin Pitts, died about fifteen years ago. Funeral services were held at the Fayetteville Baptist Church Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. D. D. Smothers, assisted by Elder R. A. Largen. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. She is survived by two sisters, besides Mrs. Crawford, Mrs. Ira Lincoln of Fayetteville, and Mrs. German Ogle of Flatt Creek, Tennessee; thee brothers, Messrs. Roy Askins and Earl Askins, both of Fayetteville, and Mr. Manley Askins of Fernandina, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews in this county, in Alabama, and in Florida. Mrs. Pitts had lots of friends and acquaintances.
