Vietnam War Airman. Prisoner of War. A resident of Aldan, he was a member of the Lansdowne-Aldan High School Class of 1950. He was captain of the school's football team, served as junior class president, and Student Council treasurer. He later graduated from Penn State where he studied agricultural economics. While at Penn State he met his future wife Evelyn. Later the couple had three sons. He joined the Air Force and achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel. Grubb's plane crashed into a hillside after failing to gain altitude while on a photo reconnaissance mission over North Vietnam in 1966. Initially listed as a prisoner of war by Hanoi, it was later discovered that Grubb had died nine days after his plane was shot down. It was not until 1974 that his body was identified and released to the United States government. During the eight years between his death and the return of his remains, his wife was active in the League of Families of Prisoners of War and Missing in Action. Grubb's name is included on the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, D.C. The position of his name is Panel 04E-Row 097.
