A very well known & immensely popular opera singer & rising shining star soprano of the radio world, she performed professionally as Madame Dorothy Raegen Talbot, until her tragic death from breast cancer in 1929, at the young age of 36.

As a young lady, Dorothy associated with dukes & duchesses while delighting audiences on her grand opera tours of Europe, and after returning to America, her radio concerts were the first to be broadcasted nationwide across America, and also to the distant countries of Australia & China.

Throughout her career, Dorothy received many accolades for her strong, clear, beautiful bird-like voice, and according to music reviews, Dorothy was specially suited for public appearances, due to her unusually attractive and charming personality.

After receiving several admiring letters from her big fan Luther Burbank, the two became good friends for life, and at his funeral, Dorothy sang one of Luther's favorite songs.

On Oct. 22, 1917, Dorothy married J. Raegen Talbot, an Oakland attorney. The couple resided in Berkeley, California, and had three daughters, Alice, Betty & Dorothy, before getting divorced in 1927.

Gravesite Details

According to the Sonoma County Library, Dorothy was originally buried under the Cedar of Lebanon tree - which was removed in 1989 - due to root disease.
