John (Sean) Thomas O'Grady, 69, of Nanuet, died March 29, 2013, on his birthday, at Joe Raso Hospice Residence in New City.

He was born March 29, 1944, in Charleston, County Mayo, Ireland, to parents Thomas and Sheila (Touhey) O'Grady, according to Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home, which handled his funeral arrangements and published his obituary.

O'Grady was a carpenter for Structure Tone in New York City for more than 35 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of Local 608 in New York. He was educated in Swinford, County Mayo, and was a master carpenter.

He lived in Nanuet for more than 40 years, residing in the Bronx and London before that. He was parishioner of St. Aedan's Roman Catholic Church in Pearl River and a member of the Irish Cultural Center and the Celtic Golf Club.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Catherine (Kay), of Nanuet; a son, Darren O'Grady of Bennington, Vt.; two daughters, Michelle Worob and her husband, Jason, of Pearl River and Siobhan O'Grady of Nanuet; and two grandchildren, Madelyn and Shayne Worob.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Gallagher; a brother, Patsy O'Grady; and his parents, Tom and Sheila O'Grady.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated April 3 at St. Aedan's Roman Catholic Church in Pearl River. Burial followed at Cemetery of the Ascension in Airmont.
