Duane was youngest son of three siblings, of Roma and Jack Clayman. Has Sister Bonnie Knapp (Clayman) of Wichita, Kansas and brother Cliff Clayman of Crystal Lake, Illinois. Had Half-Sister Diane Simpson in Marshall, Michigan, and two Half-Brothers, Earl Moyers of Tallahassee, Florida, deceased in 1990, and Joe Moyers of Fayetteville, Georgia. Duane never married or had kids, always lived with parents. An amatuer Photographer, played organ like a pro, couldn't read music, played by ear. A pro wrestling fanatic, idoled Elvis Presley and the Beatles. Had diabetic stroke at age 39 in 1994, never knew he had diabeti's. Left him with one paralyzed arm and on S.S.I. Had mild seizures and heart disease due to the stroke and diabeti's. Died from a ruptured ulcer, an ulcer the size of a fist and a hole the size of a quarter. Never recovered from the loss of his beloved mother. Never drank or smoked. Though born slightly retarded, had learning problems, mostly talked and acted silly, he had many good qualities. Worked till his stroke. After stroke still drove and stayed on the go, could do more with one arm than most could do with two arms. Including working on cars, his favorite pasttime. Never felt sorry for himself, kept alot of things bottled up inside. Was physically and verbally abused all his life by father, then brother, mainly out of shame. He tolerated it. Loved animals, especially cats. He lived alone after mom died, a neighbor found him dead in his home, collapsed on living room floor, after checking on him. He already had been dead a week, one of his two beloved cats, an old white persian, his favorite, was lying on top of him, protecting his body. He would have been proud. He rededicated himself to Christ two months before he died. Duane and Bonnie remained close, in weekly contact. He died a year after our mother, trying hard to make it on his own and prove himself, and make her proud. His sister offered advice and guidance from long distance. He was in the process of moving to Kansas, selling his home mom left him, to be with his sister, who kept after him, out of love and concern. He was in poor and failing health, never took good care of himself or take anything seriously. I'm sure he was worried about his health and future, but kept it to himself, not wanting anyone else to worry. When our mother was in a long-term care Hospital for 3 months, he kept his sister posted, as he visited her daily. She was recovering from two mild strokes, and had Parkinson's Disease. He always cheered her up. She was temporarily on life support. She also was a cat lover, he'd bring her pictures of their two cats, once I called there, he placed the phone by her ear so she could hear, making her smile. He looked after the home in her absense and paid the bills, did the house chores and yard work, all with one good arm. Hoping to welcome her home soon. But the Power of Attorney, her first granddaughter, her other son's daughter, concidered her a bother and listened to her vicious, controlling father, who had disowned his mother years prior. So they pulled the plug, against the advice of the doctor, against her wishes in her living will, and against the families wishes, killing her on her 81st Birthday. It devastated Duane and his sister. At the funeral Cliff and his kin, the wayward son, did not sit with, talk to, or acknowledge family, did not speak up at the funeral sharing memories, and shed no tears, only smirked from the background. After her funeral, Duane and his sister and her kids went to his home. He had a major seizure, his sister Bonnie called 9-1-1 and she spent hours with him at the hospital. When Duane died and the Coroner finally located his sister, she had originally located his brother first who lived only 40 miles away. His sister lived in Wichita, Kansas, 700 miles away. Cliff, trying to pretend to be someone else, said they wanted nothing to do with the Police, Funeral, or Remains, and hung up on the Coroner. So his sister, who doesn't drive, had her sons take her up there to handle arrangements, and the other business affairs handled back in Kansas. Duane couldn't be embalmed nor would Coroner allow sister to view his body, since he was badly decomposed. He had no Funeral or Wake, but was buried quietly next to his parents.
