Mr. John Goslinga, Sr., age 89, of Hospers, passed away Saturday, March 10, at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City.
John was born July 21,1900 near Newkirk, the son of Sjoerd Goslinga and Clara Dykstra Goslinga.
On February 15, 1922, he married Silvia Vander Beek at Hospers. They farmed near Sheldon. Mrs. Goslinga passed away December 24, 1956, at Orange City. In 1957,
Mr. Goslinga retired to Hospers. On September 15,1959, he married Ann Mouw Van Driel at Orange City. They continued to live in Hospers. Mrs. Goslinga passed away July 23, 1982, at Sioux City.
In June of 1988, John became a resident of the Heritage House.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Hospers, where he served on the consistory as an elder. He had also been a member of the board of directors of the Farmers Cooperative Elevator of Hospers.
Survivors include his three sons, Stewart and his wife, Theresa, and John, Jr., and his wife, Jean, all of Sheldon; and Erwin and his wife, Johanna, of Hospers; three daughters, Clara, and her husband, Wilbert Van Gelder, of Rock Rapids; Sylvia, and her husband, Roger
Henning, of Le Mars; and Betty, and her husband, Harlan Roos, of Spencer; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Susie Bussamus, of Marcus; and Jessie Eason, of Orange City; and brother, Ted, of Orange City.
He is also survived by his step-daughter, Velma Boonstra, of Orange City; two step-sons, Donald Van Driel, of Everst, Washington; and Robert Van Driel, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; nine step-grandchildren, and eleven step-greatgrandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceeded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth, two grandsons, and brother, Peter.
