He married Kathleen "Kathy" Dreiling on Aug. 26, 1978, in Plainville.
He was a contract pumper and owner and operator of Stripper Oil Co. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and attended St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, watching Fort Hays State University football and basketball, camping, the Kansas City Chiefs and being with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Kyle Dreher, Hays; a daughter, Jamie Grooms and husband, Devin, Hays; his parents, Plainville; three brothers, Ed Dreher Jr. and wife, JoAnn, Plainville, Frank Dreher and wife, Trina, Corpus Christie, Texas, and Joe Dreher and wife, Missy, Oberlin; a sister, Carol Rozean and husband, Doug, Hays; and two grandchildren, Ryder and Hallie Grooms.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jessica Dreher; and his mother and father-in-law, Virgil and Hilda Dreiling.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Plainville; burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Plainville. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 320 S.W. Second, Plainville, KS 67663. A Ladies Guild rosary will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association in memory of Jessica Dreher in care of the funeral home.
