A 19-year-old mother perished in a $25,000 fire that gutted her parents' home and hospitalized three members of her family Sunday morning in Daugherty Township.
Firemen were unable to revive Mrs. Jerri Annice Carcase Eisenbrown after they finally penetrated dense smoke and searing heat to reach her, trapped in a back bedroom of the home, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Carcase, Sunflower Road.
Fire Chief Morgan J. Thomas said five other occupants including Mr. and Mrs. Carcase escaped through windows.
Harry Carcase 45; his wife Nina, 40, and their grandson Curtis Douglass, 3 1/2 were listed in satisfactory condition in Rochester Hospital, all three suffered smoke inhalation, and the Carcases suffered cuts from the flight through broken windows.
Chief Thomas said Mrs. Carcase was awaakend by her grandson's cries and alarmed the family, Mrs. Eisenbrown's husband, Herbert, and her brother, Philip, 18 escaped without apparent injury. Another daughter, Leona, 15 was away for the weekend.

Firemen vainly tried resuscitation methods on Mrs. Eisenbrown on the way to Rochester Hospital, but she was dead of smoke inhilation on arrival.
According to Chief Thomas, the fire charred the interior and the furnishings beyond recognition, and doors seemingly were melted by the heat. He said it apparently had been under way a considerable time before it was discovered, because flames were pouring from the roof when the firemen arrived.
Cause of the fire still is under investigation, although Thomas said it starting point has been narrowed to the kitchen or its adjoining room. A state fire marshal has ruled the fire was accidental.
Mrs. Eisenbrown's other survivors include another brother Harry P. Jr., Ft. Dix., N.C. and her grandparents, Mrs. Lila Carcase, Rochester, and Mr. and Mrs. James Fraser, Freedom
