In Memory of Galen F. "Andy" Anderson
July 3, 1929 - April 8, 2013

Galen F. Anderson passed away from a brief illness Monday April 8, 2013.

He is predeceased by his wife of nearly 26 years, Alice Anderson who passed away in 1979.

Andy was born to Gunnar F. and Edith Bird Anderson on July 3, 1929 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

His family moved to San Francisco when he was little and he attended local schools there.

He joined the Army when he was seventeen and he proudly served with the Hawaiian Armed Special Police in Honolulu, Hawaii.

He always thought that was the "time of his life" and it inspired his career in police work.

Dad enjoyed close to thirty years of retirement from the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office where he achieved a rank of Lieutenant.

He served that department with many outstanding professionals and he enjoyed a great career there.

Our dad was a very funny and charismatic man. It was sometimes hard to tell when he was being serious or he was giving us a hard time.

He would regale us with stories of his youth and daredevil antics that will entertain us for our lifetimes.

He loved our mom and our family without question and taught us many fine lessons on respect, chivalry and "taking care of business".

He will be missed but we know that he is now with our mom "having a cocktail by the pool".

Along with my brother Mark Anderson and his wife, Brenda, my sister, Melodie and her husband, Lynn Van Erden, myself, Gay and my husband, Leo Horton and with all the grandkids, David, Kurt and Lara Anderson, Nick and Allison Horton and Gunner and Erik Van Erden , we invite you to the Graveside service being held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 11:00 am at Westwood Hills Memorial Park 2720 Cold Springs Rd. Placerville, California.

In lieu of flowers and as Dad was a recent resident of Eskaton Village Memory Center, we are asking for all donations to be made in honor of him to the Eskaton Village Employee Christmas Bonus Fund, 3380 Blairs Lane, Placerville, California 95667.
