Edward Arnold, 21, of Holland, died at a Blytheville Hospital Monday night following injuries he received when thrown from a car and pinned beneath it as it struck a culvert. The accident occurred near the Greenway place on Highway 61 north of Steele late Sunday night.

In company with Virgil "Preacher" Gatewood and Coochie Curry, young men also of Holland, the trio helped some negro motorists in trouble, and in getting back on the pavement struck a small bridge causing the car to tilt and overturn. Young Arnold either jumped or was thrown from the machine, which was driven by Gatewood.

Arnold suffered broken ribs and internal injuries, while Gatewood and Curry received severe bruises and lacerations. The injuries to the latter are reported, nothing serious.

Arnold is survived by his wife, nee Ethel Wyble, of Denton, to whom he was married last August 19. They resided at Holland. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary Arnold, of Holland, his father, Stafford Arnold, of near Dell, Ark., five brothers, Marvin and Dallas, of East St. Louis, Ill., William of Holland, Pink, of Camden, Tenn., and Harvey of 48 and 8 community, near Blytheville, three sisters, Mrs. Ella Reynolds of Dyess, Ark., Mrs. Edna Bryan of Memphis, Tenn., and Miss Dicie Arnold of Holland.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Holland Baptist Church conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. S. Compere, and with the German Undertaking Co. in charge, burial was made in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
