My Great-Grandmother was born Mahala J. McGary; she went by the name of Jana. Her mother was Keziah McCalister-James and her father was Robert McCalister. Jana married John Franklin Williams on August 6, 1885 in Brownwood, Texas. He was the son of Andrew Williams and Martha James-Williams. Jana and John had 5 children:

Jana's occupation shows to be that of a missionary in the 1930 Census. She reported that our ancestors fought at Goliad and the Alamo, helped to write the Declaration of Texas Independence. Her father was a confederate soldier. Her uncles were rangers on the front fighting the Indians.
Her father's cousin was the mother of Chief Quanah Parker, Cynthia Ann Parker.
She was a true Texas pioneer.
