UMBALOUGH
William O. Bumbalough, 73, formerly of Williamstown, Mich., and currently of Fruitland, Fla., died at 12:59 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Leesburg (Fla.) Regional Medical Center.
He was born August 6, 1931, in Detroit, Mich., the son of the late Comer and Frances (Hester) Bumbalough. On December 2, 1993, he married Betty Jane Hofacker, who survives in Fruitland.
Mr. Bumbalough owned and operated a Dairy Queen in Williamston, Mich., for 20 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Leesburg, Fla., and had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, William D. (Kris) Bumbalough of Granger, Ind.; one daughter, Pamela (Bob) Cowan of Niles, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Linda S. (Elmer) Wagner of Ohio City and Lisa (Robert) Rice of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three sisters, Dorothy L. Romancky of St. Helen, Mich., and Mary E. (Albert) Romancky and Linda B. Hanes, both of Houghton Lake, Mich.; three grandchildren, and six stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard M. Bumbalough.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honor units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Monday, March 14, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Leesburg, Fla.
