Elwood attended grade school at Atkinson (NE.) Elementary. His parents took him to Merringer Institute in Topeka, KS where he was diagnosed with Minimal Brain Injury (M.B.I.) the result of a head injury when he was 2 yrs. old. The symptoms were restlessness, erratic impulsiveness, and unpredictable actions. He would act out whatever came into his mind, without regard to the consequences. This has meant that he sometimes had a VERY LONELY life, with few friends, and being misunderstood by almost everyone, even his parents at times. Because of this brain injury it was suggested he
be sent to The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, Curtis, Nebraska. He then attended college at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln while his father was a state senator. After high school Elwood helped in the family business, F. Brady Grain, Atkinson, Nebraska where he drove both semi and straight truck for the next 25 to 30 years. He also helped his father sell and establish the first irrigation systems in Holt County, Nebraska. Elwood was a born salesman and loved visiting with people. He was a lifetime member of the United Methodist church, Atkinson, Nebraska.
Elwood was preceded in death by: mother and father.
Elwood is survived only by numerous cousins, friends, and neighbors.
Interment was in The Woodlawn Cemetery in Atkinson, NE.
