Funeral for Joe B. Edwards, 69, of 4040 Runnels, who died in an Arkansas truck wreck Wednesday, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Shannon's North chapel with burial at Mount Olivet.
Edwards died when the tractor-trailer he was driving plunged down an embankment after leaving Interstate 40 near Conway, Ark.
The cause of the accident was unclear, but police said Edwards may have had a heart attack. The family has requested an autopsy.
Edwards was a native of Durante, Miss., and had lived in Fort Worth more than 40 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and worked for Miller Truck Lines for 30 years. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; four sons, Joe Edwards Jr. of Garland, James Richard Edwards of Daingerfield and David E Barnes and Robert Barnes, both of Fort Worth; two daughters, Debra Jo Bassham and Judy McLendon, both of Fort Worth; three brothers, Bill Martin and Alton Middleton, both of Fort Worth, and G.C. He made his home in the Ft. Worth, TX area and fathered two sons by his first marriage, Joe Bob Edwards (1934-2008) and James "Jimmy" Richard Edwards (1938- ?).
